Biography

Max started playing the piano at the age of 5. Since 2016 he has been attending the music branch of the Landesgymnasium Latina "August Hermann Francke" in Halle and is majoring in piano with Prof. Ragna Schirmer. In addition, since 2021 he has been a young student in the youth development class at the University of Music and Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig with Prof. Markus Tomas. He took part in master classes with Konrad Elser and Elisabeth Leonskaja.

Max has won multiple prizes at the Germany-wide "Jugend musiziert" competition, both as a soloist and in various chamber music ensembles. In 2023 he won first prize at national level in the categories piano solo and new music. Max also took part in piano competitions outside of Germany. In 2023 he won a first prize in the highest category and the special prize of the "European Union of Music Competitions for Youth" at the Brin d'herbe international youth piano competition in Orléans, combined with an invitation to the Festival des Jeunes Talents in Cannes.

In 2020 Max received a scholarship from the MozartLab as part of the Würzburg Mozart Festival and received a music scholarship from the Hans and Eugenia Jütting Foundation in Stendal in 2022.

Max gives concerts as a soloist and as an ensemble musician in various formations. In 2022 he played Bartók's sonata for two pianos and percussion at the Piano Forum in the Liebfrauen concert hall in Wernigerode. At the same time he made his debut with the Wernigerode Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra in Mozart's Concerto for Three Pianos and Orchestra K. 242 and J.S. Bach's Concerto for Four Pianos and Orchestra BWV 1065.

In addition to playing the piano, Max enjoys composing. He receives additional inspiration from composition lessons at the Latina August Hermann Francke with Dr. Franz Kaern-Biederstedt. With his orchestral piece "mouvement de l`eau" he was a prizewinner at the music competition of the MDR "Händel-Experiment" 2018. In 2021 he received a prize at the nationwide competition for young people composed.

In connection with his compositional work, Max is particularly fascinated by orchestral music and the possibilities of interpreting it through conducting. In order to expand his musical knowledge in this area as well, he has been studying conducting with Alexander Stessin since 2022, also at the University of Music and Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig.
